EVENT AT A GLANCE
Event: VMAA Founding Congress and Official Launch
Date: 8 May 2026
Time: 1:00 PM – 8:30 PM
Venue: International Conference Center, 11 Le Hong Phong Street, Ba Dinh District, Hanoi
A landmark for Vietnam’s M&A community
The official launch followed a long period of preparation and was enabled by the Ministry of Interior’s Decision No. 96/QD-BNV, issued on 21 January 2026. The event represented the first step in building a dedicated professional platform for mergers and acquisitions in Vietnam—a field increasingly central to corporate restructuring, capital raising and long-term business growth.
The congress programme brought the community together to introduce the Association, consider its charter and 2026–2031 activity programme, establish its first governance structure, share strategic priorities and encourage cooperation among market participants. The occasion also created valuable space for dialogue and networking across the investment and advisory ecosystem.

From market momentum to stronger infrastructure
Event coverage pointed to a renewed M&A market: industry estimates cited approximately 367 transactions in Vietnam in 2025, valued at US$8.7 billion—an indication that M&A is becoming a more important strategic tool for Vietnamese businesses. As companies look to expand, reorganise assets, raise capital, secure strategic partners and improve competitiveness, the need for clear market information and trusted professional support continues to grow.
VMAA’s direction responds to that need. Its priorities include connecting domestic businesses with international investors and financial institutions; supporting professional development through training, standards and specialist networks; and advancing practical market infrastructure such as data, an annual M&A report and a future Vietnam M&A index. These ambitions are designed to help market participants make better-informed decisions and create stronger links between Vietnamese enterprises and long-term capital.
James Invest’s commitment to collaboration
For James Invest, the founding congress reinforced the importance of partnership, sound preparation and local market understanding in every M&A journey. The firm was pleased to support an event that convened businesses, advisors and investors around a shared objective: helping Vietnam’s M&A market develop with greater transparency, capability and international connectivity.

James Invest looks forward to contributing to the Association’s growing network and to supporting businesses as they assess strategic opportunities, structure transactions and build relationships that create sustainable value.
